Songs of Experience
“Songs of Experience” is the third album by Italian (Dublin resident) pianist Francesco Turrisi released from his own label Taquin records. Turrisi presents a very original and international trio that features Italy's young rising star Fulvio Sigurta' on trumpet and talented Portuguese drummer Joao Lobo. All the music is written by Turrisi and is a blend of contemporary European jazz influenced by early Baroque music and Mediterranean traditional music.
The compositions are spacious, melodic and dramatic at times, and the performance of this bass-less trio is characterized by the interplay between the musicians and the freedom with which they approach these simple yet poignant melodies.
