SI DOLCE E’ IL TORMENTO
A jazz project inspired by my experiences playing and researching 17th century Italian music. This project has been funded by Music network and the Irish Arts council to be recorded and released as a CD in 2008 on Diatribe label.
The project consists in a series of original compositions for jazz quartet (with clarinet) and piano trio. The compositions are elaborations of material from 17th century Italian music. The project includes as well a series of melodies by 17th century composers arranged for piano, theorbo (renaissance extended lute) and clarinet.
Artist that have collaborated to this project include Gianluigi Trovesi, John Ruocco, Michael Buckley, Ronan Guilfoyle, Brendan Doyle, Richard Sweeney, Sean Carpio, Dan Bodwell etc…
TARAB
"Tarab" (in Arabic) is a state of ecstasy and surrender one enters while listening, with body and soul, to music.
When I created the ensemble Tarab in 2007 I tried to imagine a link between my southern Italian and Mediterranean origins and my musical journey and experience as a jazz musician. The music of Tarab varies between original compositions and arrangements of traditional and classical (arabic) music. Jazz and improvisation are also key elements in the musical creative process of Tarab.
Tarab is a very versatile ensemble and it varies in size and lineup according to each specific project.

HERNANDEZ/TURRIS/O’BRIEN TRIO
This trio was founded by Argentinian guitarist and singer Ariel Hernadez, Irish bass player Cormac O’ Brien and Italian pianist and accordionist Francesco Turrisi.
The repertoire consists of arrangements of Argentinian folk music and Brazilian music (mostly choros) as well as original compositions for the trio.
YURODNY
Yurodny is an octet founded by saxophone player Nick Roth. The repertoire of yurodny varies between arrangements of traditional melodies from the Balkan region and original compositions with eastern influences. The first Yurodny CD will be released in the spring of 2008.
