Isole (Italian for Islands) is a collection of newly edited short films with archive footage from 1930s Ireland and Sicily.
Poverty, isolationand the influence of the Catholic church connect these two remote islands, despite their geographical distance.
Agricultural and fishing life, religious rites and musical and dance traditions of the two islands are presented side by side.
The films are accompanied by an original soundtrack composed by Francesco Turrisi and performed live by his group The Taquin Experiments.
Funded by Wicklow County Arts Office.
